Welcome to the 2008 Reiki Alphabet Challenge!!! Its great to have you here!!! This challenge is designed to give you something new to Reiki every day by giving you a new letter to focus on each day. Hopefully, by the end of the challenge you will have Reikied things you hadn’t considered before and thereby increased the boundaries of your Reiki world. So let’s get started…
Today’s letter is “U” and our focus is on your Unconscious Mind. There are many psychological theories about the nature of the Unconscious Mind and Unconsciousness. For our purposes here I want to just stick to a very basic one… that of the unconscious mind being like that of a 10 year old child sharing a semi-parasitic relationship with us. This child keeps track of our breathing, metabolism, heart rate, blood pressure, dreams, etc. and for today’s challenge we are going to be sending Reiki directly to our Unconscious Mind, that is, directly to that 10 year old child that plays such an important part in our lives.
Our unconscious minds, in all actuality, are not separate from ourselves, but for all intents and purposes they might as well be since most people can”t directly communicate with their Unconscious Minds (at least not consciously
) so it would not be too much of a stretch to send Reiki to our Unconscious Minds as if they were actually separate entities… which is exactly what we are going to be doing. Using a proxy (a teddy bear or photo of ourselves) we can send Reiki directly to the unconscious aspect of that proxy. More advanced practitioners can just set their intent to send Reiki to that aspect if it is more convenient.
Since our Unconscious Minds do not reside in the physical realm, our focus should be on sending them mental, emotional and/or spiritual healing energies. And since they have roughly the same maturity as 10 year old children, the types of thoughts and feelings they have would be those of a child. Therefore feelings of jealousy, inadequacy, anxiety, peer pressure, lack of friends or social acceptance would be the types of disorders commonly experienced, and so your Reiki would be directed towards dealing with those types of imbalances and blocks.
Our Unconscious Minds do a lot of the heavy lifting for us and are often taken for granted, abused, neglected or altogether ignored and since there is no way of knowing exactly how Reiki would be received by them I would approach it just as giving Reiki to any other child, that is, first build us some trust and gradually increase the dosage as needed. Regularly sending Reiki to your unconscious you is a great habit to get into and will go a long way towards keeping you mental and emotionally fit and balanced.
During the Reiki Alphabet Challenge, please do not feel you must limit yourself to the suggested letter of the day. Use the comment option below to send your own suggested ideas beginning with the letter of the day so that we might all get some new ideas, motivations and understandings of this wonderful world of Reiki. And as always, extra points will be given for originality and awesomeness!! ![]()
