Reiki Students

Just as some people have trouble selecting the right Reiki teacher, the reverse is also true, that is, at times it is difficult for Reiki teachers to know which students to admit and it is just as safe to say that all students are not created equally… although many teachers just accept whoever comes to them and put the responsibility on divine intervention. To that end, for those Reiki teachers wishing to develop a more refined practitioner base, Iโ€™ve compiled a list of things to consider when choosing a Reiki studentโ€ฆ again, these are not commandmentsโ€ฆ just suggestionsโ€ฆ they are not in any particular order and may change at a moments notice as more important considerations come to mindโ€ฆ :-)

  1. sincerity – does the person seem sincere in their desire to learn, or is it just the next thing to satisfy their curiosity?
  2. resonance – choose someone you are comfortable with, if you get a bad feeling trust your instincts.
  3. previous training – have they studied Reiki previously? What was the situation? Why are they looking for a new teacher?
  4. expectations – make sure you are aware of exactly what they are hoping to get out of your training.
  5. student reason for wanting to learn – you should be aware of why they want you to teach them in the first place.
  6. dedication – do they have the time to make the necessary commitment (if there is such a commitment needed by your teaching style)? Do they have the time to practice and join in extracurricular activities?
  7. nature – are they argumentative? Do they challenge everything you say? Do they fit in a class with others or will they slow things down? Are they better fit for individual training?
  8. medical condition – are they in good health? Are they depressed? Maybe it would be wiser to suggest Reiki healing before Reiki training (of course its your call).
  9. your reason for wanting to teach – Why are you teaching? Experience? Money? Dedication? Desire to spread a good thing? (hint: if its money, you might want to reconsider).
  10. time limitations – do you have the time to properly commit to the necessary training?

Some of these considerations left a bad taste in my mouth when writing them (you can, no doubt guess which ones) but they needed to be said. There are far too many people out there who perhaps should not have been taught, which tends to make it far more difficult than it really outta be for the rest of us. Perhaps there is a reason, and far be it for me to second guess things… but there you have it!!! The main thing is to trust Reiki and trust your instincts to guide you in creating the best students you can.

Good luck in your quest and donโ€™t settle for mediocrity when choosing a Reiki studentโ€ฆ sometimes the most unlikely person might be just what you need!!

Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown prmontserrat took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
