In my assorted experimentations combining with Reiki and various objects I have discovered a very interesting combo… Reiki and Kukui Nuts, I have found that Kukui Nuts have the ability to hold the Reiki energy for extended periods… far exceeding that of other objects I’ve tested. Upon discovering this I decided to dig a little deeper into the Kukui Nut, and found some most interesting things.
Kukui Nuts, the product of Kukui Nut Trees (a.k.a. Candleberry, Candlenut, Indian Walnut, Kemiri, or Varnish Trees) are the National Tree of Hawaii and are rather similar to Macadamia Nuts. The Kukui Nut Tree itself is a symbol of enlightenment, protection and peace for the Hawaiians and said to contain Mana (the Hawaiian word for Ki). More common uses range from lighting/skin oils and soaps to fishing net oils and even a paste that can be spread over the seas to help fishermen find fish by creating a magnifying lens on the water’s surface. But of course, I’m not really interested in the practical uses… except for perhaps the use of Kukui Nut Oil as a Base Oil in Aromatherapy (as most base oils have no purpose other than to assist the essential oils in finding their way to the bloodstream, Kukui Nut Oil has a few hidden benefits that the more common ones, like Grapeseed and Sweet Almond Oil do not).
I found some of those uncommon uses in the Hawaiian Shamanic (Huna) uses for Kukui Nuts… that’s where things started to get interesting. I had been using a Kukui Nut Pendulum for a few years and never really thought about any other powers it might possess… until I happened upon an interesting article about one aspect of the Kukui Nut by Huna GrandPooBah Max Freedom Long located here, that gives you a taste of what traditional Huna is like as well as an indication as to how the Kukui Nut is esteemed is its practice.
As mentioned in that article I have experimented with this ability of the Kukui Nut in Huna to communicate with one’s higher conscious mind both in a Huna context as well as with Reiki and I found that use of the Kukui Nut in Reiki serves several purposes. First is this ability to communicate with your Aumakua, or higher conscious mind, to direct your intent in a very focused and concentrated way. I found uses in this respect in distance healing to be particularly effective as the ability to connect with the person you are healing at a distance is a vital and often overlooked factor in distance healing. I’ve used this in distance attunements as well and found the results much more satisfying.
Second is the ability of the Kukui Nut to hold a focused Reiki charge for great amounts of time. See my post on Reiki and Crystals and substitute Kukui Nuts for a unique, but similar experience in both self healing as well as the healing of others.
Third are the natural healing frequencies of the Kukui Nut itself. This applies more to fresh Kukui Nuts, the fresher the better, but have even been able to feel some charge in some dried nuts that had been sitting around for awhile.
Add some Reiki to those already fascinating powers and you have quite the potent combination. Besides crystals, I haven’t found anything similar and the Reiki.WhatItAllBeLike.Com super Pre-Alphabet Reiki Challenge Special Deluxe Modification is to actually give a Reiki attunement to your Kukui Nut Lei or your Kukui Nut Bracelet. I haven’t discovered exactly how far down the Rabbit Hole that particular modification goes, but so far its proving an interesting study! ![]()
