One scientific viewpoint as to the way Reiki energy works is that it’s primary ability is to dissolve energy blocks. This viewpoint stems from the belief that a smooth flow of energy through the various meridians and/or chakras leads to a smooth and trouble-free existence.

According to this theory, any blocks or obstacles in one’s energy systems are outwardly reflected as dis-ease or some other form of imbalance in one’s life. This is true in regard to physical blocks as well as emotional, mental and/or spiritual blocks.

Whether or not the block is correctly identified is not important as Reiki energies will be automatically attracted to where they are needed just as a magnet is attracted to its opposite polarity… in this case the opposite polarity of disease is health (positive vs. negative energies). So as we are sending out Reiki energies (whether through our hands, eyes, proxy or other means) that Reiki energy is naturally attracted to its polar opposite where it begins to weaken that opposing force and by doing so dissolve the energy block that are being caused because of it… this will in turn alleviate the dis-ease that is being outwardly manifested as a result (i.e., Reiki healing).

The crux of this theory is that Reiki healing may not be the result of some super human Reiki intelligence (although I am by no means discounting that theory) but rather it may be a simple case of polarity attraction. It is an interesting idea…
