Music for Reiki Healing

There are quite a few CDs available featuring various types of music to listen to while performing Reiki healing. These can be used for healing others or in self-healing (in the form of physical/hands-on healing) or spiritual healing (in the form of meditation). There are also quite a few non-Reiki CDs that work remarkably well when used together with Reiki. I’d like to take a quick look at these (Reiki and non-Reiki alike) here.

One interesting classification of the Reiki CDs are those like Reiki: The Mind Body & Soul Series which presents 12 tracks of soothing instrumentals, each approximately 5 minutes in length that you can play during a Reiki session. According to the CD Cover “This album is ideally timed for Reiki treatments, allowing the practitioner to concentrate on Reiki and ignore the clock”, so as each track ends you simply move to a new position and in an hour, you’re done.

Reiki: The Healing Ocean is another one along those lines, but in this case the background is ambient ocean sounds with the call of a distant seagull every 3 minutes that is just loud enough to hear if you are expecting it. Again, the audible cue allows you to focus on the healing and not worry about watching the clock (which can be quite nice for beginners) while the soothing sound of the ocean adds to the relaxation and therefore, adds to the healing.

While not only music, Reiki CDs such as Hiroshi Doi’s CD (discussed in my recent post entitled Reiki Quick Tip #1) contain guided meditations that are not only helpful in expanding your Reiki knowledge, but also in expanding your Reiki power. There are several such CDs available, each with their own appeal and their own blend of Reiki to add to the mix.

Virtually any music of a spiritual nature plays quite nicely with Reiki. A few artists that I’m quite fond of in this respect are Russill Paul, Kirtana and Deva Premal. Each add their own unique dimensions to one’s meditation and have the ability to take you to a whole new level. Various CDs of chanting monks, singing bowls, Japanese shakuhachi, shamanic drumming or didgeridoo an/or or just the ambient sound of the rain, a mountain stream or the majestic ocean all have much to add as well.

My recommendation is to try a few different types of music or ambient sound and see which you are most comfortable with and which elevate your Reiki to the level you desire. Just as people respond differently to different types of music, so too do they respond differently to different music for Reiki healing as well.
