I would just like to briefly acknowledge some members of the Reiki Community without pointing any fingers or laying any accusations… the fact is, I have great respect for these people who I have personally lableled as Reiki Rebels.
In every community there are folks that tend to color outside the lines, so to speak, and I’d like to reference George Bernard Shaw as follows:
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
In order for progress to be made we must allow for the creative mind to express itself. Often this goes against the grain of established thoughts and ideas and Albert Einstein’s quote that “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds” tends to prove itself true even in such spiritual realms as Reiki. Reiki is an organic discipline, which means that it is continuously evolving… and it will not experience its natural expansion if it is put in a box where growth is stifled. The Reiki energies know no limits and thus they should be permitted to be expressed without criticism in as many ways as possible.
There is, however, a fine line to be drawn between additions to Reiki based on Reiki’s own evolution and those based on additions of other systems (like Qi Gong and Crystal Therapy) and calling it Traditional Reiki. I’m not sure exactly where this line needs to be drawn, I am aware that it exists though, and that different people draw it in different places. Personall, I would be more comfortable if these practices were labeled as additions to Reiki, rather than Reiki itself, but since I’ve been called a Reiki Rebel myself in the past… far be it from me to make such a suggestion. ๐
God bless the Reiki rebels!!!
