Duane at Mt. Kurama

My first trip to Mt. Kurama, the birthplace of Reiki was, as you might imagine, a wonderful experience. The energies there are simply amazing and as a pilgrim to one of Reiki’s sacred spots simple pleasures abound.

My first trip there was by car while all subsequent trips have been by train and each time, when I get within 5 miles of the place my hands start tingling like you wouldn’t believe. The energy there is simply amazing and there is no doubt whatsoever that this is the true birthplace of Reiki, because the entire mountain just buzzes with that unique Reiki energy.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been to beautiful Mt. Kurama as for a few years I used to go there every month to send monthly distance Reiki attunements (Reiju) to a select group of my students, but I do believe that the most memorable experience was that of an actual Reiki Seminar that was held there several years ago (the only Reiki Seminar that was ever actually held at Mt. Kurama) by Reiki Master Hyakuten Inamoto (link to the right -> ) that I was lucky enough to be invited to. Discussions and meditations were held and attunements were passed right at Usugi Gongen, which is the exact spot where Dr. Usui is believed to have received the first Reiki energy transmissions. Needless to say the energies passed that day were simply incredible.

On another trip there a few years ago, Hiroshi Doi (another link found to the right -> ) and I practiced self-attunements there (also at Usugi Gongen) during a pause in a hike up the mountain… and again, the energies passed were amazing. It really is wonderful to share experiences like that with the two men who I feel are true Reiki Masters and the living embodiment of Reiki in the world today. They will both forever have my deepest admiration and respect.

Should you ever have the chance to visit Mt. Kurama, I highly recommend it. Pack a lunch and plan on spending the day basking in the splendid Reiki energies… I guarantee you will never forget it!!

  1. Hey Duane

I could feel my fingers tingling right now reading the above post. I now know how much I missed when I visited Japan more than 25 years ago. Of course I never heard of Reiki or energy then. Hopefully one day . . . soon I will be able to revisit and this time for sure I going to all those amazing places because I know better now. I have great admiration for the Japanese people and their respect for others.

    Blessings
    Pranaya
