Reiki Dentist

As a follow up to yesterday’s post on Reiki for Doctors, I’d like to examine the relationship between Reiki and Dentists a bit more closely. Although not so far apart there are some notable differences.

Generally speaking, the biggest differences between doctors and dentists as I see it are that dentists usually have much more sustained direct contact with their patients (yes there are exceptions) and dentists are usually not the bearers of life threatening news (notwithstanding their fees for bridgework ๐Ÿ˜† ). I realize these are oversimplifications, but they are the basis of the two applications that I would like to look at.

First is the emotional aspect. Sitting in the waiting room of any dentist’s office while listening to the drone of the drill in the other room is hardly the most enjoyable experience. Dr. Paddi Lund from Queensland, Australia is not your run of the mill dentist, and his approach to patient comfort and care is second to none (cappuccino machines, patient lounges and his famous dental buns being part of his recipe for as close to an almost enjoyable dental experience as humanly possible). One addition I would make to his outstanding application of common sense and compassion to the field of dentistry would be the addition of Reiki to his menu. A dental staff that is versed in the uses of Reiki (and in this case Reiki Level Two) would help to alleviate a great deal of the stress that usually accompanies us to the dentist’s office. As with Reiki uses for Medical Doctors, the sending of Reiki energies before, during and after treatment would be of tremendous benefit.

On the physical side, Reiki Level One is all that’s needed. Many dentists are now using hypnotherapy as a general anesthetic and I think that is a marvelous application and only wish my dentist was one of them. Having the ability to apply Reiki energies while elbow deep in cavities would not only alleviate some (if not all) of the mental and emotional stress but also some (if not all) of the physical stress (i.e., pain). All that is required is to connect to the Reiki energy and let it run generously and freely.

I’m mot sure if Mrs. Takata’s rendition of Dr. Usui’s dental prowess after being enlightened on Mt. Kurama is factual or not… but as in all of Mrs. Takata’s teachings the point is made and is certainly valid… Reiki in Dentistry (and not only Reiki for Dentists themselves) is a wonderful application of the marvelous Reiki energies… and certainly one that should not be overlooked.

For further explanation or discussion, your thoughts are most welcome and highly encouraged, please feel free to comment below!!!
