Reiki in the Rain

Today was another beautiful rainy day in my neck of Japan and I had the most wonderful Reiki experience, proving, yet again, that no matter how long we’ve been involved with Reiki we can have new and exciting experiences if we are open to them.

I was standing in the rain, waiting for my son’s school bus to arrive when I realized my hands felt like icicles. I didn’t think it was that cold, but apparently, it was. My usual response to cold hands is to just run Reiki through them. That usually heats them up within a minute or two, and so, as inconspicuously as possible on a crowded Japanese street, I connected to Reiki (yeah… the old fake stretch routine ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and let it run. I happened to glance down and noticed that I was standing in a very small puddle. Circling around me in the puddle was a prism of multicolored water much like that experienced oftentimes when I take a bath (see this post for details). It kind of looked like those oil slicks that are all too common on U.S. streets, but there are no such slick on Japanese sidewalks. The bus pulled up and in the ensuing confusion I forgot about my Reiki puddle and gathered my belongings. About 15 minutes later, when we were ready to leave, we walked past that puddle again, and, of course, there were no colors. That verified it for me, the prism was indeed caused by the Reiki.

I was already a big fan of meditating in, and on, the Rain, but this afternoon’s Rain meditation was a little different than the others. Rather than using the rain as a portal to enlightenment (a subject for another day) I reflected on one of my favorite Haiki by Matsuo Bashล:

The crane’s legs
have gotten shorter
in the spring rain.

What a beautiful rainy day for Reiki!!

*** I will be announcing a contest soon that involves the practice of Reiju, so if you are not subscribed to the RSS feed for this blog, or do not check back on a regular basis I encourage you to do so, as this contest is not something you want to miss!!!

Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown prmontserrat took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
