Reiki sessions vary from person to person but if its true Reiki (i.e., nothing foreign introduced to the session) I have never heard of it being anything other than a completely relaxing experience. In fact, its so relaxing that 90% of the time that I give a Reiki treatment the recipient falls asleep within the first 10 minutes or so.
What should I expect during a Reiki session?
The experience of a Reiki session varies from person to person but is generally experienced as a gentle wave of relaxation spreading through the body as the session progresses. Different Reiki practitioners have different ways of performing Reiki, generally based on what they were taught… some teachers advocate that the practitioner never actually touch the other person, some use a light/feather touch and others have quite heavy hands… either way the result is generally the same… a level of relaxation previously never experienced by most. Even for those who were never physically touched, the Reiki experience can often leave them feeling like they’ve had a full body massage. This is why it is often referred to as a Reiki massage, even though no contact was ever made!
