Have you started using Twitter yet? You know, the micro-blogging application? I’ve been using it for quite a while, but until recently I just didn’t get it… now that I do I realize the potential and of course, anywhere there is potential, there is potential for Reiki… so I thought I’d get you all up to speed as twitter will be playing a nice role in this year’s 30 Day Reiki Challenge, so you might want to familiarize yourself with it in advance have you the mind to. ![]()
What is Twitter?
OK… a few basics for the uninitiated. As I said, Twitter is a micro-blogging application. Blogging has gained quite a bit of popularity over the past couple of years and basically consists of a site, such as this one, that updates on a periodic basis. The benefit of a blog over a regular website is that blogs are interactive and give the reader a chance to participate in the discussions. Many blogs are updated on a daily or weekly basis and attract some loyal followings.
Micro-blogs, on the other hand, are formless blogs that are updated several (if not many) times a day. What are you reading? Where are you dining? Who did you meet? When are you writing your next blog post? Etc. Anything you are doing of interest will be bantered about and let me tell you, there is a ton of useful information being bantered every minute.
As with blogging, you decide your level of participation (if any) and mold it to suit your needs. One of my newest twitter friends (Hi Sher!) developed this great little quick start guide if you are interested… its at http://www.tnbase.com/tweets.html and its certainly worth the read.
Twitter and Reiki
So, you may ask, what has all this to do with Reiki? Well besides being a key component of the previously mentioned upcoming 30 Day Reiki Challenge I can think of several useful applications off the top of my head. Here are a few of them…
- Letting your friends know how you are using Reiki
- Giving other Reiki Practitioners ideas about how to use their Reiki
- Up to the second coordination for sending distance Reiki
- Real time Reiki question and answer sessions
- Letting people know about cool Reiki sites that you discover
- Discussion things that aren’t really Reiki but have some application
- Finding new friends to send distance Reiki to
- Sharing Reiki information with like-minded individuals
- Introducing people to Reiki
I’d certainly love to hear other people’s ideas on how to use Twitter with Reiki, so please take advantage of this blogs commenting feature, or better yet… get a free account (if you haven’t already) and connect with me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/duaneflowers. Hope to see you there… ![]()

Interesting, I would have never thought of that, probably because Facebook has taken over people my age. I didn’t think i needed Twitter. I shall set one up for the 30 day Reiki challenge though.
I do prefer Reiki Tweets over Reiki Twicks :lol:

I’ve been anti-twitter so far.
