My own Reiki path started many years ago (in about 1990), but it was not really a path I actively pursued. I now refer to it as Reiki Lite and while it is and was a perfectly legitimate way to learn Reiki, it is not very deep. My first Reiki teacher was a friend of mine who passed on the Reiki energy to me and instructed me that all I had to do is to just put my hands wherever there was pain. She said that all I needed to do is to intend that the pain be healed, and it will go away. That was the full extent of my Reiki training. She said that by using the same strong intention I could send Reiki healing to others (people/places/things) at a distance, pass Reiki energy to other people and a host of other applications and techniques which I really didnโt pay much attention to. Subsequently, the only use I got out of Reiki was to put my hands on myself (or someone else) when I had a headache, stomachache, backache, etc. It usually worked but it never occurred to me (until much later) that there may be more to it than this. Hence came my continued Reiki study… more on that later…
