I remain convinced that one of the biggest problems in this day and age is poor communication skills. People just don’t know how to communicate effectively and this results in problems too many to mention. While Reiki cannot make you a better communicator it can be used to improve the level of communication. Read on to find out how…
I am of the opinion that the biggest problems in communication are the result of poor listening skills. Being a language teacher by trade this is something I’ve spent a considerable amount of time studying. The bottom line is that no matter what language is being used, people are terrible listeners. 9 times out of 10 when you are talking to someone, they listen to the first few words you say and immediately form an opinion about what you are communicating. Then while you continue talking they are thinking about what to say and how to say it. Chances are you do the same thing. ![]()
Even if just one of the parties involved in a conversation practices good listening skills the level of communication achieved is multiplied many times over. This is one of the ways that Reiki can help out. When you are engaged in conversation send Reiki to the person (or persons) you are communicating with with the intent to understand and be understood. Use the mental/emotional symbol and this will generate a relaxation aimed towards the mind and the heart and the result will be true communication.
One of the reasons that people don’t listen is that everybody is always in a hurry. Even waiting on line at the bank or mall there is an impatience to get on to the next thing. There’s just no time nowadays to have a decent conversation. Reiki relaxes and in that relaxation comes the desire to understand and the ability to be understood. Continuously sending Reiki to whoever you are talking to… whether a friend, waitress, clerk, policeman, etc. greatly aids in this communicative endeavor.
Another problem in communication is that everyone communicates through different filters. We all have different knowledge, experiences, thoughts, feelings, etc. and these shape the way we view the world. They also shape the way we interpret what other people are saying. There is a psychic component to Reiki that greatly enhances our ability to empathize and truly understand the perceptions of the person we are talking to so that we can see the world through their eyes long enough to understand what they are trying to communicate.
Another problem in communication is, as the Buddha said, all words are lies… they are merely pointers to the truth. The word honey is not honey, and if you have no experience of honey you will have no idea what that word is pointing to. You could write a book about it (the chemical properties, different types, how the bees manufacture it, etc.) but without that experience you will never truly know honey. Nowadays thought are increasingly more and more complex and the limited abilities of language to express those thoughts are limiting enough without the failure to take the necessary time to adequately ensure that what you are saying is the same thing that is being understood.
So when you’re talking to someone, keep these things in mind. People are not expert communicators and need all the help they can get. Luckily, Reiki can help considerably by boosting patience, understanding, empathy, filter awareness, and the psychic abilities needed to effectively understand and be understood. ![]()
