reiki-bellows

I‘ve been asked what the best way is to effective increase your Reiki power, so I thought I’d write a quick post on it as it may prove to be of interest to all.

While its true that the hands-down best way to increase one’s Reiki energy is just through repeated practice and effort, an understanding of the mechanisms involved may make it easier and more effective in the long run.

As you no doubt already know, Reiki flows in through your Crown Chakra and enters your tanden. After that it immediately exits through your palms or fingertips, (although it is possible for it to also exit through your eyes, your feet, or to be radiated and dispersed all around you… but that’s a post for another day).

A lot of people focus on drawing more energy in, and do so quite successfully, but if your tanden is not able to hold a large amount of Reiki there will be no place for it to go. It is important to grow ones tanden in order to hold as much energy as possible which is why Reiki Masters in Dr. Usui’s time practiced many Qi Gong exercises which were specifically developed for that purpose. These are among the practices that the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai continues to practice to this day, but do not share, as they can be quite dangerous if not practiced with the correct supervision and guidance.

Picture the tanden like an internal bellows that pulls Reiki in when it is opened and forcefully emits it when its closed. Naturally, the bigger the bellows the more Reiki that can be circulated making it important to include exercises that increase the capacity of one’s tanden as well as exercises that allow for the greatest quantity of Reiki to be drawn in.

The third step is also important, that is, the channel that Reiki uses to exit. If you are drawing energy in through a channel the size of a garden hose but force it to exit through a channel the size of a straw, there will be complications. Meditating on these 3 steps (drawing Reiki in, containing it and emitting it) is a great way to increase their individual quality. Hatsurei Ho is an excellent mediation for this purpose as it has a built in energy component and is the best out-of-the-box Reiki exercise for increasing one’s Reiki power.

If you chose to practice Qi Gong to use in conjunction with Reiki I highly recommend finding a qualified and experienced teacher, as, along with Kundalini Yoga, it is one of the more dangerous disciplines if not done correctly and can cause tremendous problems if one is careless, doesn’t respect its power or takes it too lightly. It is not necessary to practice Qi Gong for an increase in Reiki Power, but it is certainly an effective way way to increase the mechanisms by which Reiki operates.

Again, in my opinion, the best way is just through continually giving Reiki, as this will allow everything to develop natutally and as you know… practice makes perfect!
