Reiki & Alcohol

I remember one of my first Reiki Master trainings with Hiroshi Doi (way back before I was part of the Gendai Reiki Konshinkai Club) when the topic of Reiki and alcohol came up. I was pretty sure of my understanding of Reiki at that point… but all that was about to change with a single word…

About a week after my Reiki Master training with Hyakuten Inamoto I left for a weekend in Guam. Whether or not I could actually go was touch and go for awhile as the Master Attunement left me with somewhat of a dependent relationship on my toilet for 3 or 4 days. ๐Ÿ˜† As things tend to do when there is Reiki involved, everything cleared up and I was off to fly the friendly skies.

The first night we arrived we went to Chuck’s Steak House (yes, they have those in Guam, too) and, as usual, I ordered beer with my meal. I took one sip and noticed the beer was really flat. So I sent it back for a replacement. The next one was flat too… so I gave it to my wife’s father who said it was fine. I ordered another anyway… another brand… and had the same result… all beer was flat and unpalatable. This was rather disquieting as I was an avid beer fan. I immediately attributed it to the Reiki… and while not pleased, began a beer-free life (in my own defense, I did switch to wine… so I wasn’t completely off the sauce). ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The following morning I was all set to enjoy my morning ritual of a cup of coffee and a crossword puzzle when lo and behold… the coffee was incredibly bitter and again unpalatable. To make a long story short I switched to tea…

The saga continues…

Shortly after this I joined the Magnussa PhoenixTM Reiki Universal Energies System and when its founder Elisabeth Frauendorfer performed the distance attunement and energy scan she told me I had a problem with my liver. I denied it and said it was news to me, but the following month I went for a physical and was told I had a problem with my liver. (kudos to Elisabeth on that distance diagnosis) Nothing serious, just some count or another was lower than it should be. To make another long story short… a year later I went back for another check-up and there was no problem at all… which kind of surprised the doctors and which again, I immediately attributed to both, my daily Reiki practice and the avoidance of beer and coffee (which the doctors confirmed would have done the trick).

At any rate, where was I? Oh yeah, the Reiki training…

As I mentioned way up in the first paragraph, I was pretty sure of my understanding of Reiki at that point… but all that was about to change with a single word… and that word came when I proudly stated that I had stopped drinking beer as a result of Reiki and one of the other students looked at me in disbelief and asked “why?”. The other student’s ears all perked up in bewilderment as they waited for my response. I mumbled something about it being bad for you and they all laughed… it was not so long after that that I attended my first Gendai Konshinkai (after Reiki-share gathering) where 99% percent of the attendees imbibed one spirit or another (Hyakuten, of course, sticks to Oolong Tea) and there is no thought at all given to the combination of Reiki and alcohol.

In the West, one is encouraged to practice vegetarianism, abstain from alcohol & coffee, and otherwise lead a pure life to complement their Reiki practice. And that one word refrain rings in my head every time I hear such recommendations… “why?” There is no reason to change your lifestyle on account of Reiki… unless Reiki itself recommends you to.

I have since reverted back to beer and coffee… although in much greater moderation… not because of Reiki, but for my own health… so… Cheers! ๐Ÿ˜€

Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown prmontserrat took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
