Just as in yesterday’s post about Reiki Eyes, attunement to the Reiki energies brings with it an often unnoticed and unappreciated gift… that of a completely new set of ears… Reiki Ears to be exact. And these new ears are imbued with an incredible power that, while there before was never cultivated and therefore largely dormant.

In their wonderful book How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk, Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish describe a very useful communication paradigm for talking to kids in simple yet effective ways that open the communicative channels. All too often we talk down to kids, and sensing that… they know when its best to shut up, and usually its just before the truth comes out. Most theories of relationship counseling base their methods on learning how to listen effectively, the work of Virginia Satir is second to none in this respect and part of her teachings was the basis for the science of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) which shows how people communicate in different ways and that you must learn to communicate with them in their own language if you want the best chances of success in being correctly understood. NLP suggests that the meaning of the communication is in the response you get… and this has tremendous implications, not only in child rearing but in an effective Reiki practice as well.

Reiki Ears

I learned many years ago not to push Reiki on those that are not ready. Generally I will not give a Reiki treatment to someone unless they ask me for it. This does not preclude me from sending them Distance Reiki whenever I like, but if they want the full treatment they gotta ask. If they don’t ask then for some reason they don’t really want it, and that is fine as suffering and working things out for oneself plays an essential part in human development. As I mentioned above, people communicate in different ways and some people do not communicate requests directly. Especially here in Japan, requests are more implied and this is where Reiki Ears come into practice.

Sometimes people are asking for help, and since asking for help is often quite difficult they do it in extremely subtle ways hoping that the cues will be picked up. Without sounding too preachy (I know… its one of my many faults) let me repeat that, because it is of the utmost importance here… sometimes people are asking for help, and since asking for help is often quite difficult they do it in extremely subtle ways hoping that the cues will be picked up. Your new Reiki Ears are designed to help you notice when people are asking for help. Just as the shades of auras are always there but not often noticed (see here for more detail).

As you learn to use you Reiki Ears you will be able to pick up more and more subtle cues, notice more and more requests for help and as you develop this ability you will become a better listener, which would make you a better communicator, which would make you a better healer… but don’t just take my word for it… listen to what others think. 😆
