First off I’d like to congratulate President Elect Obama on his victory, it will be interesting to see what changes the future has in store for us as a result of this historic event.
Second, I’d like to remind everyone that there are still a few letters left (24 to be exact
) for the upcoming Reiki Alphabet Challenge (details here). Thanks Lynda! I like the sound of that! ![]()
And having those points out of the way we can safely move on to today’s post… Improved Focus With Reiki. So without further adieu…
The ability to concentrate seems to be one of those rare talents that some people find naturally while others struggle (and still others just give up on). I work with a lot of children every day and over the last 15 years or so I’ve noticed a marked decrease in the number of children that are able to block out external (and internal) distractions to the point where they can effectively give their full attention to the subject at hand. I’ve also noticed a marked decrease in communicative abilities all around (especially in regard to listening skills) and believe this is a direct result of the younger generation’s inability to properly focus.
With the numbers of distractions in our environments increasingly on the rise, this is no real surprise, and it should also come as no real surprise that Reiki has a solution to offer to those who would hear. Several, actually…
First of all it’s important to recognize the cause or reason for the lack of focus. The most obvious way that Reiki can help out is for an inability to concentrate that is caused by some type of mental or emotional block. One of Reiki’s strongest abilities is to break through energy blocks, and this holds true for mental and emotional blocks as surely as it does for physical ones. Therefore, if something is blocking your ability to focus, either on the emotional or mental level, Reiki can effectively be applied to dissolve those blocks. And sometimes, that is really all it takes.
Rather than being the result of an energetic block, lack of concentration can also be a result of an inability to create a block, that is, being able to effectively block out distractions. Again, Reiki can be of assistance here as well. Giving Reiki to something creates a connection between you, and whatever it is you are Reiki-ing. In Hawaiian Shamanism this connection is referred to as an Aka Cord, and the stronger the Aka Connection the greater the magnetic attraction between the two ends. Giving Reiki to your book, for example, creates a bond between you and the book, and the stronger that bond is, the stronger the connection will be, and the easier it will be to maintain that connection for extended periods.
Meditation is a great way to foster overall mental balance and Reiki Meditations are a great way to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak, that is, meditate and perform a self (or distance) healing at the same time. The ability to meditate for longer periods of time is directly related to the ability to focus for longer periods of time, the developing of one being of tremendous benefit to the other, and for many people, it is much easier to develop good meditation skills than it is to develop good concentration.
Getting a good nights sleep is of great value for many things throughout the day. If your body and mind are well rested, concentration will be much easier. Regular Self-Reiki Treatments are a great way to improve the quality of your sleep. Keeping Reiki running while sleeping is another option here, as is sending your sleeping self Reiki during your regular Reiki Meditations. ![]()
Finally I’d like to touch on Reiki’s “Don’t Worry” Principle. Worrying is the process of projecting possible (usually negative) outcomes on various situations. This projection itself can be the cause of many distractions leading to an inability to focus. Following the “Just for Today” advise is a good way to strike worry from the day’s itinerary, and will also eliminate the distractions caused by it at the same time (yes, I’m heavilyย into multi-tasking). ![]()
In conclusion, if it is your own lack of ability to concentrate, or perhaps that of a loved one (child or spouse) or colleague whose inability to focus is something you’d like to help out with, any or all of the above would be a good place to start… and of course I’ve only mentioned a few, so let your imagination discover others that may be more suitable to your own situation, and liking.
An excellent way to begin would be to concentrate on which letter you’d like to sponsor in the upcoming challenge. ![]()
