One of the more popular excuses I’ve heard for not keeping up one’s Reiki practice is the lack of time, and in today’s day and age this is not just a problem for Reiki, but there just doesn’t seem to be the time to do the many things that are expected of us. What’s a Reiki Practitioner to do?
Time Management
Better time management is one way to pack more into your busy day. Lack of a proper schedule not only wastes time, but does not make efficient use of the time that isn’t being wasted. One of my favorite time management techniques is that I keep a kitchen timer on my desk and I allocate either 33.33 or 22.22 minutes for any given project at any given time. These blog posts are a perfect example… 22.22 minutes from start to end. When the next project starts… I reset the timer and away I go.
Meditate on it!
One of the things in my daily schedule that don’t get a 33.33 minute time limit are my Reiki meditations… they get a full hour… and during that time there is always room to meditate on the things I need to do. I don’t schedule a specific time for my meditations, so for example if I’ve got a Reiki.WhatItAllBeLike.Com blog post to make and I have no idea what to write about… that’s a great time for a meditation, during which, at least part of the time will be dedicated to coming up with something to WOW you guys. ๐ That seems to make any project spent meditating on go a lot more smoothly and a lot more effortlessly.
While Rigamaroling
If I’m watching a movie, doing the dishes, driving to work, surfing the net, losing to my kids in checkers, listening to a new CD, or folding the laundry, these mindless activities are perfect for Reiki. Just turn it on and let it flow… and if someone happens to be around all the better, they give me something to focus on.
You see there really is time… and since Reiki doesn’t demand your full attention there is no reason it can’t be a part of MANY activities you pursue every day and once you get in the habit of doing so… it will be automatic.

You know I make the excuse that I don’t have time as well. I usually do it right before bed. I set the intent and then seem to wake up in some drool the next day… trying to remember where I left off. When I first began I was kind of infatuated with Reiki.
I would turn it on in the car driving, in the shower, on trees birds, bums you name it. I’m sure I still do it some on a subconscious level BUT I will make a conscious effort while doing chores and house work to turn it on.
Your right it’s an effortless task you just call and receive.
The timer idea works well for me. I usually come home and do 10 minutes in each room to keep the house clean behind my boys.
Oh another thing I do is brainstorm all my concerns on paper and Reiki the paper. ok off to create a new habit. Sweet dreams
thanks for the new view point… I just had it in my head that I could only do reiki if I was doing “just reiki” but to know that I can do it while I am doing other things opens the doors wide open– thanks

britemoon, that’s an awesome idea – writing concerns on a paper…
just awesome, thanks so much ๐
don’t know why I never thought of it before, that’s usually how I send Reiki over a distance to someone…I draw them or write their name and then surround it with the symbols, then reiki the paper
while I had yet another pizza delivery job during college, I would use Reiki at work, folding pizza boxes. no one could understand why I seemed to enjoy doing this ridiculous job they all hated. my manager would ask what I was smiling at every day, and I had no idea I was doing it.
joe’s pizza box folding job reminds me of the Zen priest’s practice of sweeping the temple sand for hours and hours everyday (even though there isn’t a grain of sand out of place) as part of their spiritual training… I believe Oprah’s new poster boy for the spiritual age, Eckhart Tolle, in “A New Earth” and “The Power of Now” refers to this discipline as one of the [many] portals into enlightenment…
