Today I’d like to pull another chapter out of the Hana Reiki Handbook and discuss an advanced Reiki technique which I call Merging with Reiki. Although this one is quite advanced and is a bit more spiritual in nature than yesterday’s more practical Reiki Handshake, I don’t think it is all that difficult, and if you make it a part of your Reiki Routine, you might find it is quite helpful on many different levels.
In Merging with Reiki, the most effective way I’ve found to do it (although of course it is not the only way) is either while doing a Reiki Meditation or a Reiki Self-Healing. In the case of a meditation, get into your favorite meditation position, face your spiritual power direction (if you know what it is), connect to the Reiki energy, and as you feel the Reiki in your hands, allow it to continue to flow through your body. Generally, once the Reiki is felt the connection is made and you don’t need to continue connecting. But in this case, maintain the connection position, and allow the Reiki energy to completely saturate your entire body.
My own style of connecting to Reiki is to hold my hands in the air until I feel the familiar Reiki tingle. In this case, rather than lower my hands and continue with whatever it was I was doing, I would keep my hands in the air, until the Reiki has permeated every nook and cranny of my body. The first few times I did this took quite a while, but the more I practice it, the quicker I can sense it moving lower and lower until it overflows out of my toes. Visualizing the process actually allows it to happen faster and the more vividly you witness this saturation in your mind the more quickly and effectively it will actually occur. Ultimately you won’t need to visualize it as it will actually be occurring and you will just be following the energy as it flows.
The science of this is fairly basic and may help you to understand what is happening. Our bodies are made up of atoms and since atoms are made up mostly of empty space, our bodies are mostly empty space. As Reiki enters our bodies, it fills that empty space with Reiki. What we are attempting to do with this exercise, is rather than just create a channel for Reiki to do its thing, we are drawing increasingly more and more Reiki in until all the empty space in and between the atoms is completely saturated with Reiki which I refer to as merging with Reiki. Once this is done, the theme of the meditation is to merge your consciousness with the Reiki. Go deeper and deeper into your own body until you are in a place of pure energy. Then stay there as long as you are able. ![]()
If you are performing this for self-healing, your body is healed at the cellular level. Rather than healing organs, muscles, bones or fibers, you are healing the cells that make these things up. This is, in and of itself, quite a powerful healing.
There are variations and advanced applications of this, but I’ll leave it to your imaginations to figure some of them out on your own. In the meantime, the more you try this the deeper it will get, until finally you can quickly and effortlessly do so every time you connect to Reiki. ![]()
