There seems to be a lot of confusion about the different Reiki levels, especially about Level Three, so I’d like to clarify things as best I can, although the reason for the confusion is that Reiki teachers basically tend to do their own thing, so nothing is really set in stone.
Reiki Level One
Reiki Level One is the introduction level. Although extremely powerful in and of itself, it is just the tip of the iceberg as far as what the Reiki energies are capable of. Reiki Level One lays the foundation for all that is to follow, so careful attention should be give to it’s mastery as briefly discussed here.
Reiki Level Two
Reiki Level Two is basically advanced Reiki. In Reiki Level Two you further your training, increase your Reiki power and deepen your understanding of the Reiki energies while taking another step towards your final goal (whatever that may be). Traditionally, in Japan, most Reiki practitioners never go beyond Reiki Level Two as this level contains all the power of Reiki, all the techniques and all the discipline… what more could you possibly want? ๐
Reiki Level Three
Reiki Level Three is Reiki Mastery. It is the natural progression of mastering and integrating all that you learned in Reiki Level One and Reiki Level Two. There are no more energies, powers or techniques and the Reiki Level Three symbol really isn’t a symbol at all… it was originally just a calligraphy Dr. Usui used to give to his Reiki Masters to remind them of the original goal of Reiki (which is enlightenment). Over the years, the Master Symbol has developed a life of its own due to the energy directed towards it, it has become quite powerful and has earned its place as a Reiki symbol.
The key to Reiki Level Three is integration… it is here that all the symbols and energies are integrated and one is expected to be a master of the Reiki energies… no in the sense of controlling them, but of understanding them… that is what Reiki Mastery and Reiki Level Three is all about.
